We meet early for breakfast and he shows up with a smile on his face.. We meet early for breakfast and he shows up with a smile on his face.. We meet early for breakfast and he shows up with a smile on his face., 2 palm trees and we choose a quiet table by the huge window. The sun illuminates the palm trees like a Hawaiian sunrise as 2 friends share vital moment. Behind the glass, Barcelona wakes up with the optimism of Fridays.

We talk about the present, future and projects. We talk about who we are, from experience, vocations and changes. We talk about a positive job future, of projecting what we are versus fitting into what they are looking for. We talk about never stop learning, to be open to possibilities and to explore paths in which we recognize ourselves. We also talk about the sea, of passions, of connections between leisure and business and how the unexpected storms of life sometimes take us unexpectedly to new ports from which to depart to a fuller life.

Sailing requires strategy, intuition, technical and tactical knowledge. the skilled sailor (like my friend) respect the sea, knows how to read the winds in the waves, knows when to act diligently and when to assume the role of not so simple counterweight. And despite all your knowledge, skills and technology to measure and predict, knows that one day the storm will come and that you have to be prepared for it, because despite the illusion, we never really control everything.

But after every storm comes calm. And behind it we are wiser and more aware of the value of the present and the opportunities of the future.

My friend has reasons to smile today. Yesterday his wife finally received wonderful and long-awaited news , had overcome the cancer that has kept them locked up for months in a parenthesis, We have already talked about it other times in this blog but with a new year I think it is appropriate to dedicate an hour to review our objectives, worried and busy with what is really important. My friend told me that talking to me charged his batteries, but this time it was he who radiated energy to me, optimism and inspiration.

Long live those who fight without giving up. long live the determined positives. Long live those who stop when you have to stop to focus on what matters most. Long live those who navigate through life aware of their daily privilege. Vivan Javier i Àngels.

Very sure, after the storm one comes out strengthened and wise… A great article Joan, to reflect and not forget all the privileges that we have in our day to day and that often go unnoticed.

    Hi Joan.

I remember sharing with you some Fridays in the sun… of the computer screen,

I really liked reading your experience with the friend. Over time, we become wise and more after storms and difficult times.

Surely it is because the tension accelerates the neurons and forces hard decision-making, which favors and relativizes daily decision-making later.…The difficult thing is to survive the storms and this helps a lot the attitude.

    A hug
